The company Evides, a Dutch civil water company, located in the southern part of the Netherlands, is a supplier of drinking water to people and companies in this part of the country. Evides is an innovative company that seeks for better solutions and sources to do the job. In 2008 Evides started op a pilot for gaining drinking water from sea water. This was initiated from the development that the sea water level in the Delta area is raising due to climate changes.
Due to the corrosion effects of salty seawater on the environment, the design was made for plastics right from the start. The process equipment is done by a combination of companies, specialized in water treatment processes. Plasticon Composites was responsible for the supply to bond a center of all modules in at the water plant, containing PVC-U and HDPE piping systems up to a diameter of 280 mm. Besides the piping systems, Plasticon Composites manufactured two storage tanks, made of HDPE: one waste water tank, 2.6 m diameter and a clear water tank 3 m diameter.
The water treatment installation is located in a small building, which demanded a very space efficient and compact design of all process equipment.
This project was fully executed by a Plasticon Composites member, Thermopol Kunststoftechniek, a strong and experienced member who is specialized in thermoplastic piping systems and apparatus.
